Muratkhan Tokmadi

 

Kazakhstani businessman,

athlete and public figure

Muratkhan Shakerkhanovich Tokmadi is the founder of KazStroySteklo, the first industrial glass processing enterprise in Kazakhstan. He also founded the Kazakhstan Energy Saving Association. In different years he held the position of vice-president of the Boxing Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is a master of sports of the USSR and an honoured boxing coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan, founded the Kazakhstan Federation of Amateur Triathlon and became one of the first Kazakhstanis to receive the title of Ironman.

Having completed his servitude in the army at the end of 1986, Muratkhan Tokmadi moved to Alma-Ata, where he got a job at the Housing Operational Site (GEU 4) of the Frunzensky (now Medeusky) district of Almaty as a sports instructor in the yard club, in the evenings he led the boxing section for children, during the day he worked as a janitor.

Biography

Muratkhan Shakerkhanovich Tokmadi was born on August 2, 1966 in the Akshi state farm of Ayagoz district of Semipalatinsk region of the Kazakh SSR, USSR. In 1983, he graduated from a boarding school in Semipalatinsk. In his youth, he was seriously engaged in boxing and became a two-time champion of the Kazakh SSR among juniors, and later the champion of the Republic among youth, having fulfilled the standard of the Candidate for Master of Sports of the USSR.
During 1984-1986, he served in the Armed Forces of the USSR. During this period, he became the boxing champion of the Central Asian Military District.

Then he moved to the position of site master in the ZhEU - 49 Auezovsky Production Trust of Housing and Communal Services, Auzovsky district of Almaty. At the end of 1987, he was appointed head of ZhEU-17, which under his leadership took first place first in Almaty, and then in the Republic.

The professional results of the young leader were noticed at the city level. In the future, Muratkhan Tokmadi was appointed director of the Building Operation Directorate № 22 of the Auezovsky district of Almaty. He was 23 years old at the time. Later, he was invited to work in the housing and communal services department of the Almaty City Executive Committee.
 

In 1989, he graduated from the Alma-Ata Institute of Architecture and Construction with a degree in civil engineering. Later, he received legal education at Almaty State University and an MBA degree from the International Academy of Business.
 

In 1993, he was invited to work in the Kazakh-Austrian JV "Rakhat", later approved as Vice President of the company.

 

From 1996 to 2003, Muratkhan Tokmadi held the position of Vice-President of the Boxing Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He is a master of sports of the USSR in boxing and an honoured coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2003, he founded KazStroySteklo, the first industrial glass processing enterprise in Kazakhstan. In 2004, under his leadership, a factory for the processing of flat glass and the production of glass products for the construction industry was launched. In 2008, KazStroySteklo LLP became the winner of the Altyn Sapa presidential award in the Best Production Enterprise category. In 2014, the company's second factory was opened in Astana.

In 2014, Muratkhan Tokmadi initiated and headed the Amateur Triathlon Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2016, he headed the National Triathlon Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2015, he was among the first Kazakhstanis to receive the title of Ironman, and in 2017 he entered the TOP 10% of the world's best triathletes in his age group.

In 2014, the company opened its second plant in Astana. Over the years, it glazed major sites in Almaty: Republic Palace, MEGA and MEGA-2, Dostyk Plaza, Nurly Tau Business Center, Almaty Metro, many residential complexes, including AFD Plaza, Almaty Arena, the Puppet Theatre and Baiken Mosque. In Astana, it also worked on many residential complexes, several secondary schools, Nazarbayev University, EXPO sites, including the famous Sphere, Talan Towers, the Museum of History, the KEGOC building, the National Museum and the Music Hall.
